Show should've been called "Star Trek: Burnham"

This show is too much about this character. She's almost in every scene. Everything and everybody's purpose seems to be about her. Even when others are the focus of a scene, they are discussing her, or she just shows up in the scene. It's absolute over-kill. And what a surprise that the entire 2nd season ends up being about her.

IMO, this show has been somewhat poor in it's characterization of it's characters. The visit to Saru's home world, or the background of Airiam past were overshadowed by the overbearing presence of Burnham taking us screen time.

Her overuse is made worse by the fact that she's always miserable, angry, or upset about something. I'd like to see more of the other characters WITHOUT Burnham taking up the scenes.

To be fair, it's a very different ST animal - a single story arc per season - more character-driven. The real issue is - the old ST was not as focused on a single character and yet it had better and more charismatic characters all around.

Hehe, pretty much. Everyone on the ship is like looking at Burnham to know everything. She might as well be captain because everyone just follows her orders anyway. The latest ep I watched S2E12 proved just that. It was another gay episode as but this time 2 gay crew members (think all the gays are in Engineering...) and Burnham making all the choices.

And to further pour salt in the wound, she's the most dreary, whiny character. Always looks like she's sucking a lemon. An entire two seasons of this will be enough to break my spirit.

Yes.That's the worst part.I would be ok with focusing on one character. But i find Burnham so uninteresting and dreary.I actually stopped watching 3 or 4 episodes into season 2 because i realized they were doing what they did in season 1 and focusing mostly on Burnham.I might go back and finish it but i'm in no rush.

That's what happens when you put agenda before storyline, idiology before entertainment.

The entire crew made up of woman and gay men. The 2 white men are either the bad guy or being emasculated (in reference to Pike). Captain of the ship but always being talked down to by Burnham and basically needs her permission to do anything.

It's a terrible show with terrible writing being written by a checklist panel to make sure everything follows current feminist idiology and the Bechnel Test.

The Orville is Star Trek, made by a fan and continuosly pays homage to the original and next generation in episodes and storylines.

Also what is with the bridge on the Discovery, you work in that little light would make you really ill, turn a light on for gods sake. Stop taking lighting tips from Jar Jar abrahms with tht constant lens flares.

This show is failing no matter what spin CBS puts on it but will ultimately blame it's failure on misogynistic white men, you know those pesky Star Trek fans not because it is just truely and meteorically crap.

She should walk around with a box of fucking tissues to wipe the constant tears that stream down her moaning depressing fucking face. And an encyclopedia about how to smile wouldn't go a miss either. I'm surprised that half the fucking crew haven't committed suicide.

Yep, it's called bad acting. You see a lot of it these days, especially among whiny, privileged brat actors who haven't known any serious hardship, yet who must project pain, intensity, empathy, and other sentiments that they can only imagine. It shows in every exaggerated emotion. They have no clue that most of the time less is more. When a scene calls for anger, lousy actors like Sonequa Martin-Green furrow their brow and act the same level of pissed off no matter what the context. In the past you'd pretty much only see this in name brand productions among child actors who are still feeling their way in the world. This is also why the male characters are written as such awful caricatures of what writers imagine men to be like. Since they're pretty much all females behind it, my bet is that the majority of males these harridans know are milquetoast metrosexual SJWs and Hollywood homosexuals. They really have no clue what most men like, nor do they seem to realize the existence of heterosexual men who are honorable, courageous, and polite.

I detested the character on The Walking Dead, and hate her even more on Discovery. I can't watch it as a result. There's nothing Star Trek about this series, it's an absolute disgrace and should be rejected as part of the Prime Universe.

She is such a bland character, too. But the only character I liked from season 1 was the captain. We know how that turned out. I stopped watching the series at that point. I was hoping the actress from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon would be better but honestly she was bland, too. Even the evil one.
The only good result of watching this show is I appreciate other Star Trek series like Enterprise more.
