I'm all for gender equality, but I am damn sick and tired

of Hollywoods boring and condescending take on how we have to
model reality in movies to encourage our little girls.

It is like in the 80's how TV started moving from being adult centered
and following ( too strictly ) the rules or propriety, the TV censor code
and all that, to catering to children because that was the demographic
to sell most profitably to.

So now men have to take the dummy role and let women be right all
the time. Why does Hollywood or most people for that matter in a
social crisis always have try to swing the pendulum back the other
way farther to get people aroused and arguing? What Hollywood has
done has to create a bunch of people in the "flyover states" who feel
that that place is out of control and it is ruining their society's values.

But even that cannot be debated reasonably and objectively, it has to
be all out culture war. The fake news is on all sides, and it probably
does not all come from Russia or China, it is to manipulate Americans
and keep us from realizing the power we have to make this country
better.

It is not better to show women fighting huge men and knocking them
out or killing that. Though that might happen 0.0000000001% of the
time and I would not rule it out, women are different from men in a
way we have not really even begun to touch in any kind of cultural
debate or discussion.

Ya. It's too much today.

A quote from "Game of Thrones"

Sansa Stark, "They respect you, they really do, but you have to... Why are you laughing?"
Jon Snow, "What did father used to say? Everything before the word "but" is horse sh*t."

According to this saying, you are not for gender equality. It appears you just wanted to go on an anti-female diatribe.

reply

Is that really the most rigorous thinking process you can
bring to bear, or you are a complete ass and have to find
some kind of excuse to express it to people you do not
know. Probably because you have no friends and no one
wants to listen to your BS. You have so much negativity
in you, you have to look so hard to insult people you don't
know you did not even get past the Subject" line to see
what I had to say anyway. That kind of screams, loser!

If I used your thinking process, I'd say you have a lot of
mental problems and want to offend people due to being
a miserable SOB yourself. Since this is the way you
introduce yourself to someone, I am going to put you on
IGNORE because I don't see any point to listening to you
and sure do not want to talk to you.

Tyrion Lannister, "Most men would rather deny a hard truth than to face it."

reply

That was a funny meltdown

reply

Haha.. it's like when people say... I'm not racist but... then they say some racist shit.. Nailed it!

brux.. it's not about males vs females and there isn't some sort of conspiracy. It's just characters interacting with other characters. We are all just people. You are drawing lines where they don't actually exist. I never noticed anything and am struggling to even see wtf you are talking about.

There is nothing wrong with breaking and challenging stereo types either. I love kick ass women in my SciFi. But its usually just about evening out the rolls. I don't see it being unbalanced in anyway.

But by all means, draw divisions if you want but... (lol).. you will be left behind

I saw a tv show recently where the guy was knocked unconscious and a girl who had a crush on him ran over and kissed him while he was unconscious. He woke up and she slapped him. Imagine if that were the other way around, it would be a scandal.

reply

Are you crazy or totally insane. You want to drive discussion on serious issues by one-off things you saw on TV that you have no idea what or why is being shown or by who. Get real.

reply

What? Even when I agree with you, your responses are emotional and unbalanced. At times I wonder about you.

reply

I am glad you agree with me, but not when the logic you are using to get there is so invalid. You cannot use artificial fake experiences that we see on TV as if it is real human experience.

reply

Look up cultural more. Yes I can, just as you did.

reply

Your missing it. McQualude is saying if they showed a man do that to a woman it would be considered an outrage. IE he's saying its a double standard.

reply

I think you are missing it ... that point is irrelevant ... the story is dog bites man, not man bites dog.

reply

Yeap, I think a lot of people are sick of it.
.though I think they have struck a near fair balance here.

Makes me think of what went wrong with "Falling Skys" The main male army/type protagonist gets killed of, and his wife doctor becomes macho-woman leader? ahead of a real leader. that show took a nose dive.

V main protagonist dreadfull, thought it would pick up with the leader of the underground but he just stayed in the basement. though Morena Baccarin was awesome.

Revolution : same thing great show untill "cant act" killed it.

I just think its funny that hollywood thinks a female role now has to be "I'm a woman" in a deep B.A.Baracus voice n' attitude wearing mens clothes, as if being a real normal woman is someting to be ashamed off.

reply

Falling Skies, now there is a show I don't much think about anymore.
It was kind of interesting, I liked it. Who were you talking about
getting killed off though? Tom was the leader guy right? It's hard to
recall now. His wife was the Chinese looking lady. I never thought that
she took over, just that they worked together.

Revolution I just could not stand after about half the first season.

V never got rolling for me.

Did you ever watch Defiance? That was interesting.

Another one is "The Expanse".

reply

Havn't seen Defiance, its what ever is on Netflick.

I've watched "The Expance" twice, well thought out, great story/verse & character development. Dare I say its close to being better than Firefly.
