Bored now

Ok, so i was seriously underwhelmed by ep 1, started to warm up by ep2 then lukewarm again by ep3. Im just not looking forward to watching it so im giving up.

Examples of shows i started recently which grabbed me in the first 5 mins and i havent stopped watching:

Ozark (finished want more)
American Horror Story
The Good Wife
Bates Motel (finished whole thing)
The Orville
Star Trek Enterprise (finished season 1 looking forward to more)

Shows should grab you from the outset, you shouldnt have to work at them.

Just watched episodes 4 and 5, and yeah, bored. It's weird because I wonder if the 17 year old version of me would have enjoyed this show? TNG, DS9, and VOY didn't require me to work at grabbing interest, I was just interested. This show I am trying to like, but it's not working well so far.

And yeah, Enterprise is better than this, leaps and bounds.

Theres something very humourless and cold about Discovery. Its interesting you mention maybe liking it when you were younger but im guessing not.

When i saw abrams first film in the theatre i went with a mixed crowd of fans and non fans and everyone was rooting for the crew cheering all the way through and thats how ive always felt about star trek, right from i watched TOS as a kid (im 49).

Star trek should be cerebral, intelligent but above all entrrtaining and FUN. Discovery doesnt hit the last two for me.

And why does everyone on the ship hate everybody else?

It's all so negative.

I thought Enterprise was about the best of the Star Trek series.
Not the same but on a par with the original series.
Ozark is great, but to me it jumped the shark ( I guess that is the term ) in the end.
Good Wife is really excellent writing and thinking, great characters, fairly realistic.

I disliked both of the first two episodes of Discovery. When you want to start
out a new series, why go back to retread plots of old things, like the dumb
Klingons? The Klingons were a poorly visualized alien species from the very
beginning, and then neutered and sanitized in The Next Generation. Ugh!

And what the hell is it with all the major lawbreaking that goes on in what
is supposed to be a military type organization? In the reboot Kirk is a downright
lowlife chemically dependent sex addict that cannot do one thing straight and
yet he goes to the head of Star Fleet pretty much. This is to interest all the losers
our country has created from our citizens by dumbing their minds out with
toxic TV.
