Does more than one person like it?

I've read all the posts made after the show started and found only one person who actually likes it. I won't be continuing with episode 3. I'm wondering though if anyone fits this profile:
1. A true fan of all Star Trek (has seen every episode of every show AND every movie); and
2. Likes Star Trek Discovery

I only watched fifty minutes of the first episode (it was pushed back and the DVR cut off), not enough to hate it but I didn't like it either. I saw more negative than positive. I would like to see the rest of the two episodes before making up my mind. One thing for sure, I won't subscribe to another streaming service to watch it.

The premiere couldn't reach 10 million viewers. Putting the show on a night when football was going to run over was a bizarre choice to start off with. So, as you said, if you tried to DVR it, you only got part of it. Then, during the episode, you had these epic four-plus-minute commercial breaks, including ads for CBS All Access on each commercial break!

How exactly was this supposed to make you want to fork over your money for ANOTHER streaming service? Especially since the episode wasn't good, in the first place.

Do you mean: One person on this board, or one person anywhere? ;-)

One person on the board. 😃

Like others, the episode I watched was cut off on DVR due to football, so I didn't see the final 13 minutes. I'm a huge fan of Star Trek, particularly the first two series' and most of the movies, including the reboots, except I wasn't crazy about "Beyond."

Of the 47 minutes (with commercials) I viewed, I thought the 'look' was spectacular, but the characters and the story failed to pull me in. Both were dull IMHO. I kinda liked the new look for the Klingons, but -- like others -- I found it curious the way they spoke their own language so slow and haltingly.

Despite LOOKING great, nothing else I experienced with this episode particularly made me WANT to see another segment, although I'll probably try.

I missed the end because it was boring and I fell asleep. Not a good sign. I disliked the show but know someone at work who enjoyed it but won't be paying to watch future episodes.

I'll still keep watching, I usually like to give first seasons a chance.

I really love TNG, DS9, and VOY and watch those the most. TOS and ENT I don't watch as much, but I love all the Star Trek movies. I mostly just prefer 24th Century Trek.

I like it, but I don't fit the rest of your criteria because I'm not a true fan of all Star Trek. But I have seen enough Star Trek to know that this show is a serious departure from previous series in the franchise.
