Those of you who have seen it, what's your honest opinion?

I disparaged the movie before it came out because I'd prefer they make movies for women that are original. Now that it's been out for a while, I'm curious as to what people who've seen it actually think about it.

I didn’t want to see it, but a friend dragged me to it (I’m 58 and female). It was better than I thought it would be, and I was expecting the equivalent of a zero rating, and would give it a 1...out of 10.

Pretty decent heist movie.

The 2001 remake was nothing more than a fun, but contrived, ride-along heist movie that tickles your curiosity and makes you wish you could be a part of that group.

The female version is actually well made from plot and narrative structure to film technique and acting, but it still feels more like a retread for me than a movie worth its own weight. I say this as a male viewer, but I didn't think it tried to deliver some sort of feminist agenda like many in the INCEL/Alt-Right movement claim.

I don't care if there are politics in it. Hollywood has a generic little can of dimestore leftist tropes it sprinkles into its products to make everyone think radical artists are responsible for the commercial tripe on the screen. That stuff doesn't bother me. I only want to know if it's a good crime movie (which Jep, above, seems to think).

reply

Yeah, if you watch it you will enjoy it more than something like "Takers"

reply

I haven't seen it but I think it should've been it's own thing. Logan Lucky is pretty much just a countryfied version of Ocean's 11 but it wasn't called Ocean's Redneck Cousin. And it was a fun movie, on it's own. That's what this movie should've been instead of trying to shoehorn in some Danny Ocean connection that really doesn't matter.

reply

It's not the most intricate of heist films. I wish there was a bit more suspense, obstacles in the way of their plan. All seems just a bit too easy. But other than that, I enjoyed the ladies together and had a decent time with them.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested- https://youtu.be/txnygPaREUE

Nice review, thanks.

no problem, thanks for watching

I really enjoyed it.

It's pleasantly entertaining, light and fun. It is nothing special or memorable, but the cast do a good job. I would rate it 7/10.

Story was a little light weight. It wanted to be more slick than it was. The lack of Soderbergh's directing makes it feel like a cheap knock-off. At times it is really trying hard to be like its predecessors (which I expect) and even succeeds a little. A little.

Most of the performances were good. Rihanna was as bland as usual. I expected more from Blanchet but she was still good.
They use a 9th person in the heist and he is very important to the undertaking but I guess he doesn't count because he is a he.
Assorted small dumb things.
enjoyed it anyhow 5.5/10

Worse than the first three, but not the worst thing I've ever seen. Definitely lacks the chemistry of the original cast. It would be regarded as a pretty middle of the road caper film if it didn't have the Ocean name attached. Worth watching, just not worth theater prices. Wait for video.

reply

Yeah, I'll try to catch it on Netflix.
