Damon Wayans's tweets to fans seem to indicate there was an on-set rift of sorts, and has acknowledged (albeit sarcastically) a replacement for Clayne.
Maybe it is a publicity stunt.
I has to be, I'm guessing they are needing to up the numbers and chatter about the show for that sweet third season renewal.

Yeah. Pretty weird Damon has done a 180 and is now in support of Crawford. Before we were led to believe they weren't even talking to each other outside of takes.
