I think you misunderstand what that phrase means. Or I beg to differ, anyway...
Think about a Windows PC - to 'fix' it, you often have to 'reboot' it.
Why are you claiming this modern reboot 'fix' is good, when actually, it's inherently trying to fix something that was never broken in the first place.
It doesn't matter if it's a relatively-good reboot or not. It's inherently a waste of oxygen, materials, electricity, money, time, compared to producing something with new artistic merit, of which there are hundreds of pitches hitting studios every day, I believe...
Some of which have got to be worth making.
Ask the bean-counters why these don't get made.
Hollywood bean-counters are simply trying to be risk-averse. Risk-averse conformity smells and acts like Fascism-Lite. Hence is quite a serious thing to avoid... Discuss.
