Not 1 but 2 Navy SEALs in the same episode
One dead (the victim) the other alive (Riggs).
What are the odds?
Writers: Hey, let's make everyone Navy SEALs that is the current "hip" thing that everyone will recognize!! Yeah, that's the ticket!!

Veterans in poorly written fiction are always SEALs or other Speical Forces, Andy they usually have a few "Congressional" Medals of Honor on their resumes (though it's only correctly referred to as simply the "Medal of Honor"). For some reason cooks, clerks and orderlies are underrepresented in bad fiction. This show sucks badly. It features every stupid cliche in the Hollywood repertoire of crap. And the chick who plays Damon Wayans' wife is insanely hot and much too young.
shareThe "Congressional" Medal of Honor thing always drive my wife nuts (she is in the military).
It is full of a lot of cliches. They haven't fully identified the young smart a$$ tech person yet on the LAPD side.

"the chick who plays Damon Wayans' wife is insanely hot and much too young" not really she is 44 and he is 56, it's about the same gap as my wife and I and you wouldn't know there was a gap.
When you get older you'll figure it out it's not about the outside!
i thought that was weird too. when i heard him say seal, i thought i misheard. i was like whoa, another seal!?
You can't persuade fanboys. You'd be better off trying to convince a wall. ~CodeNamePlasmaSnake~

Where's Don Shipley when you need him?
shareThe movie had Riggs and one of the antagonists as Special Forces too. Did you not watch the original? It's streaming on Netflix. Give a go.
A good review of "Inside Out": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXC_205E3Og
Yes, of course I did. Riggs was SF. And the team of commandos hired by the former general hired other special forces to comprise Shadow Company who were his security / enforcement detail since he was a drug runner. They were a major underground ring.
Riggs is a SEAL in this TV show. OK fine. But the other random guy had to be a SEAL? There are plenty of other SF forces to pick from if they "have to" go the SF route. But even that seemed unnecessary. SEALs are not a dime a dozen unless you are at McPs on Coronado.

Special Forces, Ranger, Delta Force... nowadays its always going to be Navy SEAL in fiction. No character is simply going to be a marine. I can't even recall seeing a TV character who was in the reserves.

That's probably due in part to the character of Martin Riggs in the original movie. He was the "Lethal Weapon" of the title, ex U.S. Army Special Forces and highly trained killer. When your hero is established as being extremely dangerous you can't really put him up against bad guys who were ordinary servicemen in comparison.
shareOh great, so we are going to have Special Forces (SEALs naturally) in every episode of this show? Sounds so off the wall!!
shareSo? The more the merrier.
