I liked it. I couldn't quite put my finger on what was amiss though until i did a 2nd watch of the pilot.

Comedy.

This show is a flat out comedy. The original Lethal Weapon movies sprinkled in comedy amid VERY serious situations and action. This show is just flat out a comedy. I was waiting for a laugh track. THAT's What I think is rubbing fans of the movies the wrong way.

And This new guy is silly, goofy and all jokes. Mel Gibson...was flat out demented and had a serious death wish. He was crazy, and he was the Lethal Weapon because he was seriously a bad ass, with a I don't care anymore death wish. This new guy? I can't take him serious at all. He doesn't seen unhinged even remotely. The scene where Danny Glover tests Mel Gibsons suicidal vibe and tells Riggs to go ahead and kill him self in the beginning of the 1st movie. And Mel actually pulls the trigger. You feel tension, You feel Mel going completely unhinged. The scene was VERY serious and you knew he was broken. The same scene in this show played it up more light and for laughs. I never once believed this new Riggs is broken.

And The show is about Martin Riggs being a wild card and loose canon. He's a lethal weapon because he is dangerous to others and himself. And Danny Glover was the straight man to Mels I don't give a *beep* kooky character. In the show they are both silly and goofy. It totally takes you out of the Lethal Weapon element.

As Lethal Weapon....this show fails. It's just not Lethal Weapon. It, just isn't. The chemistry between Wayans and this new guy is flat. the show is not at all serious. Hawaii 5-0 has the right tone this show should have went for. Serious, but fun cop show with humor sprinkled in.
BUT....
As a fun new comedy cop show it's fun. Just as i enjoy it, Damon Wayans yells out..."look out Riggs" and it ruins it for me because I can't connect these guys to anything remotely like the universe that was set up in Lethal Weapon. I really wish they just made this a new show with it's own title. Because it's not bad. But it's not Lethal Weapon
