Mini Series ends after five episodes

After viewing episode one of the series I googled to see if it's under consideration of renewal. There will be no series two. It was appropriate as a mini series vs an ongoing series. Perhaps instead of five hours it might have been better as a two hour TV film. How far could they really have taken this unique situation and make it a multi year series. Something that was touched on yet never in enough detail was the psychological effect a person being held for thirteen years would entail. While I realize police needed to look for the next missing girl. I would expect kit gloves would have been used to communicate with Ivy.. that never really materialized during the episodes. Just to add, I could have slapped the single expression Ivy used in all episodes of her face. Second; though, I realize mothers tend to be protective, the mother was OTT nut job having everyone walk on eggshells and having all as it was thirteen years ago. In a similar situation I would have expected full warmth and affection yet those closest to me to be real. This wasn't the case. Very good program, not stellar.
