When I was watching the first episode I thought Ivy (the main character) was about 16. It turns out she is supposed to be 26. In real life Jody Comer is actually 23 but she looks a lot younger than her age.
The younger sister I figured was about 14, but it's revealed that she is getting married so in the story she must be a lot older than that.
They mention in the beginning that she was 11 when Ivy was taken, so she's about a couple years younger than her. 24 is young, but perfectly reasonable age to get married.

shareI wondered if they cast a slightly younger actress to play Ivy in order to play up the innocence/naiveness of the character. She's 26 but in terms of emotion or experience she's behind. It's definitely not a character that could be played by an older actress.
