Playung Sundance 2017

Given his previous Sundance entry The One I Love– director Charlie McDowell’s The Discovery is sure to provide plenty of psychologically twisted drama (and a dash of comedy) with a sci-fi slant. With Sundance’s own Robert Redford on board playing a scientist who reveals that there is definitive proof of an afterlife- the film’s profile is definitely raised quite a bit and might bring broader interest to an otherwise dreary sounding storyline. Headliners Rooney Mara and Jason Segel have both been to Sundance before with quiet indies like Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and the David Foster Wallace biopic The End of the Tour so their attachment isn’t entirely out of step with other roles.
