Yeah, so not the Eastern Shore

I live in Baltimore and visit the Eastern Shore often. This is so inauthentic. The Eastern Shore is the flatest place in the world, there are no hills let alone mountains. And the trees are completely wrong. There are no Douglas Furs on the Chesapeake more like Carolina Pine. Come on Hallmark Channel, you can do better.

The dad said they were having crabs for dinner, they were sitting at the dining room table eating crab legs! They would have been eating blue crabs.

Shhhh....I'm listening to reason

reply

I know! If I were the author of these books I'd be really upset with how they've portrayed the location.

reply

lol! When he said that I was completely expecting to see a table covered in newspaper overflowing with crabs. I had to laugh when it was just crab legs.

The scenery is so distracting I'm not sure I can continue to watch it. Rocky shores? Heck no. There are miles and miles of flat land and reeds. And there are no mountains like that on the east coast at all. East coast mountains are older and rounded.

Also, when it's 4th of July in MD, it's hot and humid. Nobody wears long sleeves. And when you're at the beach, NOBODY wears stiletto heels and dresses. Why does nobody wear shorts and flip flops?

The show is so obviously filmed in the Pacific northwest, like most of the Hallmark movies. Why didn't they just change the location for the television show and refer to it as Chesapeake, Oregon or something.

it's painful.

It was filmed here in Nanaimo, BC back in April/May. I've been to the real Chesapeake Bay years ago, and yeah it does not look anything like my home town. Although I have to say I think the series looks great, I hope if there is a season 2, that they return next year to film.

The pilot/movie was filmed in Steveston, which is part of Richmond BC, just south of the Vancouver International Airport. The rest of the TV series was shot in Nanaimo and Qualicum Beach, on Vancouver Island (and possibly a few other locations?). Definitely not east coast, but much more beautiful in my subjective opinion. However, if you tuned in to see the east coast, you are going to be disappointed.

Thank you for bringing that up! I live in Maryland too and I kept thinking "where the heck is this filmed there are no mountain views from the eastern shore!" I live in north western Maryland IN the mountains. And it takes me four hours to get to the shore which I do several times a year. They really should have named this Vancouver Shores.

Beautiful scenery, but not Eastern Shore scenery. I was so excited to see something actually about Maryland. I guess I'll just have to settle for the beautiful scenery that is Jesse Metcalfe.

Thanks, I was wondering if this was worth checking out, having been there a lot myself. If the location and customs were actually based on the Eastern Shore, it would have been amazing. I don't see any point in watching it otherwise.

reply

Yeah, my mom and dad just started watching this show at my suggestion. My dad said, "ah, this is a show about the beautiful shores of Vancouver!". He thought it was quite funny.
