Dawn - Former Children of God member

First of all, I LOVED this documentary. I've always been curious about what happens in Tony Robbins' Date with Destiny - a $5K a pop self-help week-long conference. Now I know and I felt like a real fly in the wall watching this doc.

I am curious about what happens to Dawn. If you saw her story, I need not go into the gory details of her past. Does anyone know how she is doing now and what she is doing with her life?

I am friends with her so I'll tell you some brief info. Last time we hung out she was telling me how she was working on a biographical book. She was living in Los Angeles for a while, but went back to Brazil. She is still there because there is something up with her visa. I hope all goes well for her and she settles it out.

I don't really know how to describe it but i could see her beauty come out when she revealed all that hidden misery in herself to others, it's like truth shined light into her and her beauty started to come through. There was a glow around her for that window period after releasing her inner demons through confession. That took a lot of courage to tell that to a room full of hundreds of people there are so many out there that have had this kind of darkness inside them that they just don't have any venue to release it especially those that have been betrayed by religious manipulation. So many people get sucked into that darkness because people around them are so blocked/walled up that eventually they just go into a shell and reflect that shell onto others and so on and so forth. It's all around us and it engulfs us. For us to be ourselves we have to be around people who are not afraid to be truthful and that gives us strength and courage to be the same.

The system is the exact opposite leading us astray and into the shadows but we must realize that this place of material existence is only temporary we are all fragile inside and no material possession will ever replace our inner longing for genuine understanding of what makes us who we are at our core. It's because of brave people like her that others get strength from. There is nothing anyone can say that will change what happened to her but there is something she can do and that is to share her story with others and to help others get past those very same things she went through. That's the only way i think she can truly heal and Tony nailed it right on the spot he knew.

There is no depth we can't pull ourselves out of it takes time and going towards the path we know is right for ourselves and others. We can't reflect the evil that is done to ourselves and others it will only lead to more evil. Hurt people hurt people and we all hurt.

**Scammer Alert**

I didn't believe Dawn’s story for one minute!

So poor old Dawn claims to be from Brazil, born into a community called The Children of God. "Dawn's Mother and brother's were sexually abused, Dawn's entire family is depressed wanting to kill themselves. Her brothers are a huge mess. Her mom is a huge mess. Dawn is the one taking care of everyone. She always there positive, always there trying to coach them. She's the solution maker of the family. Now she's at the point that she doesn't know how to harbor all the pain and wanting to kill herself. 26 years old and she's never been in a relationship or know what real love is.

Dawn if your reading this post, take that microphone and shove it down your throat! Poor little old Dawn is here in the United States on a expired visa! How are you able to take care of your family living in Los Angeles! Your mom is so messed up? Your brother's are messed up? BUT you have time and money to look for your answers at a Tony Robbins seminar at the price of $5,000.

Dawn is looking for a husband! What better place to find a husband then a week long retreat preying on desperate and weak minded men. She finds a husband, she gets US Citizenship, she gets US Citizenship and is able to enter and exiting the states with the same rights as a natural born citizen. All the while extorting the man/women for money.

I can go on and on but hopefully you get the picture

She sold her things to get the $5,000. It was mentioned by Tony in the car the day after that event with Dawn. She also tells the story here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I2rGzbTQGE

So you watched her video on YouTube, then it must be true! . I too watched her 59 minute video. Very attractive, vibrant, healthy looking girl! Very bubbly, smiley, giggley! I was also impressed with how articulate and well spoken she is, considering that fact that she was born and raised in Brazil in oppressed community, not a hint of an accent or misuse of a word.

Interestingly enough, It wasn't until 47 minutes into her YouTube video that she mentioned her biological mother. "Her mother is her hero and the most amazing person she ever met" She also claims to get her capacity for love from her mother, because her mother has the biggest heart in the universe" Well that's all well and good. But in the Tony Robbins documentary she led us to believe that her mother was "so messed up" that Dawn was the one harboring all the mothers pain. " In fact, she said in the documentary that she didn't know what love is" "During that 59 minute interview, she had not one single mention of her biological mother or biological brothers sexual or physical abuse. Although she did spend quite of bit of her time talking about revenue generating projects....books & seminars !

Food for thought! She lived with a roommate in a two bedroom apartment. Typically roommates shares furniture. I have a difficult time believing, a foreigner, living in the states, on a visa has a resale value of $5,000 dollars in furniture.

I'm glad she clarified "twice" that she didn't receive donations of 100K it was in fact 30K. Thank you Dawn for clearing that up.

To be honest, that came across my mind. How can a Brazilian girl speaks english like it's her first language? And yes, that point about her mother as well.

reply

Her father is actually British and her mother Brazilian hence the reason why her name is Dawn. Her Brazilian name is Sol because her friends can't pronounce Dawn. She actually was working in the administration for the English department at a bilingual school. While I don't see Tony Robbins' methods working for me I'm glad it helped start to lift the burdens from her highly troubled past. She actually is a decent human being so no one has the right to judge her.

Do you guys know anything at all about the Children of God cult? They traveled the world setting up different compounds in countries so that they couldn't be tracked or monitored as easily so that they could continue their system of ritualised abuse.

Frequently the Children of God members (i.e. Dawn's parents) were not from the country they set up the compound in and they NEVER integrated into the nations they nested in, so the children (Dawn) were not immersed in local cultures, so they never learned the language. Further, Children of God was run by a deviant maniac who spoke English to his fanatical followers. For all of these reasons it was essential that members be raised speaking English as a first language and never developed the mannerisms/accents/etc. of the countries that they are citizens of. Of course, this leaves them stranded and isolated in the only country they've ever known the second they leave the cult.

Try doing a modicum of research before lambasting victims of a very well documented abuse cult.
