I felt like the movie was trying to imply something. But what?

No. That's why I asked.

I didn't at first. They are either prostitutes or just young lovers and he was trying to hide that. At least that was my take.

See, that is okay. But does he need to keep up appearances in front of his cleaning lady? Well I guess he did it for propriety's sake but it was weird.
