Have come late to this and there's something I don't understand:
The young couple were killed in London, right? So are the pair of detectives London based but sent up to Scotland to investigate? Or are they from Edinburgh? Thanks

Yes they were killed in London
Their 'possible' killer came to Scotland where he was subsequently killed. So they followed the blood trail all the way up to the vallies
Yes, I understand that. But how come we see the Laura Frasier character with her daughter, does she keep nipping up and down to London to look after her? Also in ep 3, the guy on the bus arriving at London Victoria, is he the young guy in the squat, or the main dealer. I think the police are from Edinburgh, not London? Anybody?
shareyes they keep going back and forth to London
like the police woman said to the guy 'think it's about time we went back up there' meaning they are based in London
Thanks for your answers, and 'scuse my idiocy, maybe it's because I'm watching in reverse order, only got into it in ep 3 and now watching backwards. Right, so policewoman Juliet(found her name), lives in London, where she was visited at home by the dealer, not the squatter. The dealer and the squatter have a scene together in a car, but the one of them arrives by bus in London. The young girl who jumped off the balcony is a school mate of Juliet's daughter, in London? Her brother is camping somewhere, not in London. I can understand why some people are thinking this is rubbish, I actualy quite like it, if I knew where it was supposed to be set! Must pay more attention to the beat bobbies as that would give a clue as to Scotland / England!
shareMeaning they are based in Edinburgh.

The couple were murdered in Edinburgh and the police officers come from there. At one point a character mentions that the cops came up from Edinburgh.

Thank you, I didn't think they kept driving up and down to London. I think they made it deliberately confusing (to me anyway!) by having one cop Scottish and the other English. If they both had the same accent, we'd presume they were both from the same base, ie Ediburgh or London.
shareI was confused too especially since Edinburgh looks so similar to London.
shareMy pleasure. I live in Edinburgh.
