What did Jamie do when he was 13?

I think I missed a bit , what did the son do all these years ago? did they explain it? The father, Bill ? , treated him pretty badly!

I thnik they did explain it or at least hinted at it but it was a blink and missed it moment, and I can'r remember to be honest.

He took the fathers shotgun into his school to scare someone. About 20mins into ep2 it's explained.
