So Moira... (SPOILER RIDDEN!)

Her continued infidelity results in;
Three ruined marriages (including her own)
Three murders
One suicide

Yet no one seems to particularly have a problem with her at all!

reply

I'm confused. Who committed suicide?

reply

He didn't pull the trigger, so no suicide. Yes, she was the root of the problem but the religious freak ruined everything not her.

Peter Elliot committed suicide by walking out under a truck.

Yeah, whether she was unhappy or not doesn't excuse her actions, I actually felt a little, just a little mind, sorry for Bill. he'd been cheated on, numerous times, and with people close to him, blackmailed, discovered he had Parkinsons and then finds out not only that his much loved daughter wasn't his but that she was unwittingly carrying a child by her own (half) brother, add some religious context and no wonder the guy cracked. Of course you can't just start killing people no matter what, but I agree, it felt sickly at the end that he was such the villain, yet Moira is forgiven/comforted.

She did cause all of it, she could have left, divorced or at the very least made her feelings known, not start affairs with close neighbours, employees, getting pregnant which one would have to presume she must have suspected about the father of the baby, destroying as stated 2 other marriages/families and her own. again, her daughter, I don't buy the she didn't know, she must've had some inclination. I had to laugh at the Louise comments to Bill near the end while Moira is standing only a few feet away.

Also felt quite sour about Juliet getting away with it all at the end too, stolen evidence, selling it, blackmail, possible planted evidence, cover up, fleeing crimes and ultimately some responsibility for the death of a child, but hey ho, it was all for the sick daughter so good ol' Andrew just lets her go...great policing all that.

I felt at odds with a lot of the summation of the show, and while I don't usually say things like this, it felt as 'most of' the women were misunderstood victims while the men were predominantly scumbags...murderers, rapists, drug dealers, junkies, religious nuts, absent fathers, creepy email reading, shotgun wielding problem boy, blackmailers, adulterers, one, we presume, hides their own incest from his wife, and even Anna *beep* all over Rob, they may have been breaking up once but, he supports her through a rape, wants justice for her, she thinks he's the murderer, he takes the fall to protect her, she can't even visit him in prison and the very second he's set free she dumps him. Even the police officer is too, conveniently, tired of it all to do his job at the end...
