No Blu-Ray Release?

Is there actually a valid reason for why there is no Blu-Ray release? The DVD will be released in 8 days, but there isn't a Blu-Ray. It's 2016, not 2006! Nowadays HD and Blu-Ray is the norm. The show looks absolutely brilliant in HD, but for some reason, the people in charge don't feel it's worth releasing on Blu-Ray. This is really baffling.

It seems to be a recent trend of TV shows only getting DVD release. It's very frustrating!

Both a DVD and Blu-Ray of Victoria season 1 is being released here in the States on January 31, 2017. Which by the way is before it will have finished its run on TV here in the States.
