Will be interesting to see how this adaptation stacks up to this movie, which is one of my favorite period films of the era. Probably not really fair since TYV is a film and Victoria is a tv series but it's inevitable.
I just REALLY love Emily Blunt and I really love Rupert Friend as Prince Albert AND I really LOVE Paul Bettany...but I love period adaptations when done well and my mind is open!! I love Rufus Sewell, too!

I'm watching the first episode now and doubt that I'll continue to the second. I'm very disappointed in it, and not due to any comparison with "The Young Victoria".

The addition of the fictional servants is unnecessary. Queen Victoria's early reign had enough intrigue and conflict without adding a component designed to appeal to Downton Abbey and Upstairs, Downstairs fans. Much more could have been done to show how despicable and conniving Sir John Conroy was.
