question about Alexander II (Grand Duke Alexander)
Why would he be a suitor for Victoria's hand? They could never marry, not only for religious reasons, but she could never leave England to live in Russia. I never read anywhere that he was a consideration for Victoria. I know that he was traveling in Europe at that time, but it seems like a huge leap of the imagination.
Also at the end he said he had to leave as his father had a Danish princess for him to marry, but Alexander married a "German" princess (of Hesse) . His son, however, did marry a Danish princess.
Am I wrong?
