Two tiny niggles

At the risk of seeming pedantic (I plead guilty), I am enjoying this series very much, but:

1. Why does the Duke of Cumberland not sport the HUGE moustache he had in real life? (Is Peter Firth allergic?), and;

2. Two of the pieces of music at the Coronation Ball (1838) were by Johann Strauss the Younger, born 1825, making him 13 at the time!. One was from "Die Fledermaus" Act 2 (Orlofsky's song), written in 1874.

End of (very mild) rant.

Costuming anachronism in Episode 3 The Clockwork Prince.

Subplot about the queen's dresser stealing jewelry but she puts it back and gives away her lace collar instead.

The collar looks like Battenberg lace. That style of lace wasn't invented nor did it become popular until the marriage of one of Victoria's daughters (It's named after her son-in-law), decades later. Like late 19th century. It's made from machine produced tapes which are manipulated into designs and then sewn in place with decorative stitches. It was developed to revive the English lace making industry after the industrial revolution and changes in fashion. So 1880s or slightly later. Still fashionable after the turn of the century.

Yes, someone else pointed this musical anachronism in another thread.

But that's a good point too about the moustache.
