King Leopold, Wellington and Prince Albert on Melbourne

I like this production.

I especially like how that got the Machiavellian, scheming Conroy right to a T. The much-revered Lord Louis Mountbatten tried to do the same thing to the present day Queen Elizabeth II, and have his nephew installed as Regent, but was stopped by Churchill, IIRC.

I have doubts about some of the portrayals.

King Leopold is portrayed as a bully who constantly scolds and puts down Victoria. IIRC, IRL, he was one of Victoria's favourite people.

When she announces she wants to marry Prince Albert, the Duke of Wellington loudly protests that he may be a "papist" since his his uncle King Leopold was. IIRC, IRL, Wellington was the one who emancipated the Catholics because many Catholic regiments served under him in the Peninsula.

After she marries Prince Albert, Lord Melbourne says something to the effect that he now senses it is time for him to retire from the scene. IIRC, IRL, it was Prince Albert who forced Lord Melbourne out of Victoria's good graces.
