A petition to save the IMDB message boards

Yikes, this is bad news for those of us who don't want to bother with FB.

It also won't solve anything, just make it worse.

Huffington Post went the lazy route and disabled their accounts and turned all of their comments over to Facebook.

The trolling increased something awful.

And yes, those of us longstanding account holders and commenters who refuse to do Facebook will be left out in the cold.

I don't do Facebook and if I didn't start of Huffington Post I'm certainly not going to start for IMDB.

It is really a poor business decision on their part. They are going to lose a LOT of traffic to their website and that is going to result in loss of revenue. I suspect they'll lose more revenue than keeping the boards costs them. Because this is all about MONEY. Don't believe anything they say if they try to make it about something else.

I agree with you mlaiuppa. Half of my visits to this site are to see what others are saying about various shows. I refuse to subject myself to all of the dreck on FB.

Totally agree. Elsewhere, https://www.themoviedb.org has been suggested. Lots of IMDb people are signing up there. I have, but haven't figured out how to comment about a specific show. However, everyone there seems to think it (already) is possible to do.

A ProBoards forum has already been set up to offer an alternative message board to this soon-to-be-terminated one. I've checked it out and it's fairly well-organized but in need of input/discussion of some of the PBS Masterpiece broadcasts many of us enjoy so much:
