I knew Bryan and some of the other characters involved in this real life tragedy. For that reason, I have not seen this film so I don't know how they portray the story. But from what I understand, yes Brent was involved with Kocis after the revelation... but it wasn't a positive experience at that point. They weren't off filming lots of new movies, etc. They hated each other.
They were a couple who had a bad break up. Brent revealed all during that very, very bitter break up. Brent and his boyfriend Grant, who like Kocis was a good deal older than Brent, hoped to tear Kocis down and retain the highly profitable "Corrigan" name to use later on.
On that front, I never felt I could have an opinion or a side during all that Chaos, because relationships and breakups always have two sides to the story and you never know which party is being more truthful.
As for the videos that came out after the breakup.
There were already scenes filmed after Brent was 18, but before they completely fell out with each other. These were sliced into the videos you've seen. Just as Brent was vicious in smearing Kocis, Kocis was vicious in smearing Brent with overly lewd photoshopped cover images and graphic DVD titles.
As for why his videos were still popular, I think a lot of people believed, at the time, that this was an innocent mistake by Bryan and/or that Brent had faked his ID to fool Bryan and therefore it wasn't his fault. Cobra Video was already popular before Brent Corrigan took it to astronomical heights and I believe it would have remained popular for a long time to come, even without Brent at the helm. There is a strong market for twink porn. Helix Studios stepped in to help fill the void left by Cobra.
Near the end of it all there was a settlement, mostly in Bryan's favor, that would have had Brent maintain a type of working relationship with him. That is why some people suspected Brent or Grant of the murders early on, before more information was revealed and we learned the truth.
Corrigan continued working in porn for years, both in front of the camera and behind the camera. There are a lot of things you can say about Brent, but he knows the business and he knows what sells.
Corrigan also holds some bitter feelings toward Kocis to this day. I can understand why. Bryan was no saint, but he did not deserve what ultimately happened to him. I think there is great irony in Brent, of all people, being instrumental in helping to catch Bryan's killers and bring them to justice.
