The son (episode 3 spoilers)

So, accident, or suicide? When Nesbitt was calculating the time, I couldn't tell whether he was trying to figure out if it were a murder, an accident, or a suicide, and whether his son had enough time to contemplate his actions and deal with God. Regardless, he is one cold pragmatic SOB. based on the ealier scene of him saying he might not be back for Spring Break, it sounded like the suicide route had already been chosen. And I wonder how well wife #2 sleeps at night.

I think he worked out it was suicide rather than an accident or anything else. Then he started feeling sorry for himself thinking god was punishing him. Still totally focused on himself. Totally delusional and *beep* up!

It's hard to believe that wife #2 went along with his secret. What a dysfunctional family that was! No wonder the son killed himself - he would have been carrying all the family guilt, without even knowing anything. Children pick up things like that, and suffer because of family secrets and guilt. I speak from similar first hand experience by the way. That's why this awful creep upsets me so much.

I have also read that the actual real person, now in jail, has been watching the show and getting off on it. No doubt enjoying the attention and notoriety. What a sicko!

In terms of family secrets and guilt. My family had this in spades, which led to some unfortunate repercussions - but no suicides thankfully.

The book suggested he had determined it was an accident and that he was at least content that his son hadn't suffered long before he died, but that it was still a catalyst for his confession as he was surrounded by death in the years before he came clean finally

I think that when he worked out his son took 17 seconds to fall he connected it to the amount of steps it took to take the hose from the car to his wife to kill her, he took 17 steps. He saw it as gods way of punishing him.

his son took 17 seconds...he took 17 steps

I missed that connection completely. Thanks.
