I saw Thetans in the trailer. Does this show have anything to do with Scientology? I know that Professor X has Cerebro, but this had the handles, the table, and everything else that those scientologists have.

There were a bunch of other Scientology type shams going on in the 1970's, so it could be Scientology or any of them. The most popular was EST, which I think also used the same stupid machine, and it was made fun a lot in the movies:
