Marty is a Scientologist Again!

I think this movie pushed Marty over the edge because he completely flip-flopped some point after this was filmed and started his own Independent Scientology group, he no longer criticizes David Miscavige or Scientology, now he actually defends them: http://tonyortega.org/2016/09/01/marty-rathbun-defends-scientology-leader-david-miscavige-as-he-trashes-tell-all-memoir-ruthless/

And his blog is now all about attacking the "ASC" or Anti-Scientology Cult. Yes, he actually thinks the people who are against Scientology are the ones who are in a cult.
Here's a very hypocritical article he wrote about it on his site: https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2016/10/05/the-only-good-scientologist/

All the interviews I'd seen of Marty in the past, none of them felt anything like how he was acting during this documentary. Even when he said he still had some belief in the doctrine he always said he'd never stop talking about the horrible practices. So what happened, Marty?

It said at the end that he didn't get paid. It seemed like at first he was doing it just to get out the truth, but then got confusing when he wanted Louis to take their stuff seriously but would get upset if he took it too seriously.

I don't think he's inspired by money but the fact that he's so defensive about his past actions makes him quite a bit different than others who left. Like Mark Rinder had a similar job but once out he made amends with the reporters he'd fair gamed and seems to feel bad about what he did.

I wonder if Marty is going to put Mark in ASC, they were such adorable friends it would be sad.

It's Mike Rinder. :) But, yes, you're are absolutely right. Marty has always been very defensive about his past in CoS and his actions. Mike, on the other hand, has confessed his actions and shown tremendous remorse and continues to work to spread the truth.

Whoops, I know better but the whole Marty/Mark/Mike threw me off.

I agree that Mike seems completely understanding of what Scientology truly was and feel bad about his actions, I mean he gave up a relationship with his kids so that he could get the truth out and help others, he could have easily stayed quiet with all that information.

I can't really judge Marty, though, not knowing his whole situation. I still wish he were able to keep himself together better in front of the protesters, showing anger only fuels their fire more, Marty knows better than anybody that they deliberately try to instigate you to assault them so they can get you arrested and make you look bad. But I know that stability doesn't run his family either, so he's probably less equipped to handle that kind of antagonism without responding the way he used to.
