wes's worst film

had no sympathy for any of the characters

Seems to have gotten too idiosyncratic and self-indulgent.

I sorta thought that about Grand Budapest Hotel. I still loved the film, but I felt like Grand Budapest was the furthest Anderson could "push it" before losing me.

With this one I didn't feel like his quirks were pushing it too much; it being a cartoon helped, I think.

It was always going to have a tough time following up The Grand Budapest Hotel, Anderson's masterpiece imo. It definitely isn't Anderson's best film, but I still take this over The Darjeeling Limited which I think is Anderson's weakest film and The Life Aquatic.. which was my weakest Anderson film but I've warmed more to that film as the years have gone on. But Isle of Dogs is a enjoyable film overall.

I would agree. This one was so damn boring and even the animation wasn't anything special.

reply

I wasn't a big fan of this but prefer it to Bottle Rocket and The Darjeeling Limited.

I really liked this film, much more than I liked the self-indulgent and pointless "Grand Budapest Hotel".

This movie was very eccentric and very Japanese, but the animation was great, the story was an original combination of wierdness and fairy tale, and it was quite moving.

reply

His worst film is The French Dispatch.

reply

That bad, huh?

reply

Yes, really bad
