I don't know why I find Chewing Gum funny but I do

I don't know why I find Chewing Gum funny but I do.

I'm not female, I'm not Black, I'm not a teenager, I'm not straight, I wasn't brought up on an urban estate and don't come from a religious background.

I guess I should have zero identification with the characters yet I really feel for them, particularly the main protagonist Tracey.

I reckon I find it funny because it is brilliantly written, well acted and skillfully edited and produced. It's one of the few programmes currently on TV that makes me laugh out loud.

I hope it goes to a second series, I want MORE!

PS And why no cast credit for the drop dead gorgeous Andy, Ronald's male nurse? Who is he?

reply

It's hilarious, I wish it was longer than 22 minutes.

Excellent writing, I hope the writer and star wins an award or 3 for the show.

Thanks and good night. XxX Love and light.

The main actress is BRILLIANT and special nods to the rest of the supporting cast too. The jokes and script are harsh, rude and unapologetic and most of all FUNNY. I hope this lady goes on to have an amazing career.

The character of Tracy seems so real that you can be laughing with her one minute, cringing with her the next and then totally feeling sorry for her and rooting for her.

But I just read it's a six episode series?! We've already had three episodes so only 3 left! I have a feeling this will be the first DVD purchase for a TV series I have made in a looooong time.

I absolutely agree with you all. I think Tracey is such a wonderful character, cringworthy at times but so funny and you just have to root for her. I also love her and Connor together.

You answered your own question. A well written show should appeal to everyone.
Also i am from and live on a similar estate in London and am so happy that for once we are seen as we truly are. Just everyday people living our lives not criminals in no go zones that the rest of the world seem to be scared of.
