What No Teen Drama?!

Hard for me to believe these teens are acting so mature, with no drama, all helping and liking each other.

The adults in regular PR ALWAYS had some kind of drama--even very childish drama; remember someone tearing up Windy's photo of her daughter in one of the early PR seasons? They never found out who did it...That's just one of many, many times of drama and they are grown adults.

Either there's a whole lot of editing going on, or maybe they are getting paid to have no drama! Haha! Whatever it is, it's weird.

Maybe they're just a normal no-drama bunch? I'm not a drama person, and most people I know aren't drama people.

Exactly, Laura!

Many reality shows encourage drama. Perhaps they chose not to in this case because it would serve the teens better? I enjoy that it's drama-free.

The kids may just be that mature. I've interviewed Maya a few times & she's been very mature and down-to-earth.

Also, not just that, but I felt many lacked personality (with the exception of the real flamboyant ones). I've watched every season of a Project Runway and this is the first time I don't really care who wins.

The judges had more personality and was more likeable, in my opinion.

Nice the teens are mature (including a lot of their fashions; I'm 53 and felt many styles were too old for me), but I just feel their needed to be a bit more "entertainment" as it is also an entertainment show, not just a serious fashion show.

Anyway, just my opinion.

I actually came here to post that I really enjoy how they all seem to support each other. They certainly are a talented bunch and it's so hard when elimination time rolls around because I really appreciate each one of them. It's refreshing not to have the cattiness and back-stabbing.

Well a lot of it is the lack of teen sexual tension. None of the girls are fighting over boys and none of the boys are attracted to the girls.

Lol, everyone isn't a jerk. If you want drama, turn it to any other channel and there ya go. I love how they're openly supportive of each other. It makes the show enjoyable to watch.

reply

I agree! I like how they support each other.

Wasn't looking for everyone to be a jerk, or not necessarily anyone to be a jerk for that matter.

For instance, some in the past have had rants; it's not being a jerk to rant.

I think that might partially be editing, but mostly that these kids are still precious untainted little souls who want to be friends with everyone. Plus they probably don't have a lot of other fashion designing peers in their friend groups at home, so being around other teens who have the same passion and talent must be pretty exciting. For young contestants, the experience may feel like fashion summer camp to some degree. This would not be the same for adults who naturally are more cynical and not as excitable.

Realistically, there may have been a few snide comments here and there, but I think the network/production team made a conscious decision to minimize potential drama and focus on the contestants and their talent. I got the occasional vibe that Samantha did not enjoy one of the partner challenges and some of the more... hyper contestants... but I don't think that was cattiness as much as personality clashes.

Thank you very much Cmtishem! I'm glad you get what I meant. :)

Very well said. You explained it really well as to why their may not be any drama.

reply

No drama, because the producers evidently decided not to manufacture it as they do the adults...adult designers seem to be expected to be actors/actresses as well as designers and are charged with keeping the ratings high with over the top behavior that you know is exaggerated.

Thee kids were fortunately allowed to do their thing w/o that added pressure... and they did a fantastic job.
