Uh...are you kidding me with this opening?

I'm watching it now and have a major complaint...I'm at about the ten minute mark here, this isn't looking good. This first scene? Showing us how awesome of a Dad Ant man is, how dedicated he is to his daughter?

There's always that scene, right? This was cliche 30 years ago, showing us how close the family is, how devoted the parents, how goddang happy everyone is. No big deal, it's generally relegated to some frolicking on the parents' bed after the kids have piled onto it at the crack of dawn...everyone gets a good tickling instead of the beat-down most of us would have got. Its giggling happy tickles and its stupid as hell, but its only a minute or two; we're used to it. Something horrible is going to happen so its worth it.

But this? The house being decorated to look like a dungeon, the stairs transformed into a slide, they're treasure hunting etc for EIGHT minutes. EIGHT damn minutes of showcasing Superdad here, while...at the two minute mark it was already obvious that nobody like this has ever existed anywhere, ever. Not anyone without Down's syndrome anyway. Or maybe a serious meth addiction. It was stupid ridiculous at the two minute mark and then it just keeps going...and going...and going. WTF? Are you kidding me with this?

There's a writer somewhere who has far too many teeth, this is some hard crap to watch right here. One of them better die lol

I though it was charming. He'd been stuck in the house for 2 years, plenty of time to make into a playground for Scott and Cassie.

What a rant.

*slow clap*

If trolling isn’t the intention here, then being on your phone while watching movie in a theater and criticizing it (did I forget to mention the using a phone - or laptop for all you know - in the theater while a movie plays bit?) is the least of this poster’s issues. Oh, that online madness.

at the two minute mark it was already obvious that nobody like this has ever existed anywhere, ever.

Not many people get stuck with 2 years of house arrest.

I agree it sorta went on a bit too long, but it was useful to show just how much spare time Scott had on his hands. I.e., enough to build an entire playground out of cardboard boxes

To the OP - Not trying to anger you, but your post says more about your mindset than it does about the film. I think you might need some counseling. It sounds like your family life was a bit rougher than most. Again, not trying to piss anyone off here.

Haha yeah, I've got my own issues, very true...but to be honest, I was in a crap mood when I sat down to watch this and hadn't even realized he was on home detention when I wrote that. Which, of course, made all the difference.

I appreciate your input Dave, I DO have some issues and can be a bit of an angry guy, but I was too busy being irritated to let a little context get in the way of it, you know?
Lol thanks guy =D
