Devil's Island seemed like a much nicer place

They weren't enclosed in cells, got to be outside and walk around, chickens and pigs available. Few guards. True, by the time they got there most had spent a lot of time in solitary, so they might be a tad crazy. But all in all, I'd rather have been there than at the first place.
