My Review

First of all, I will say that this was a great movie. This movie was loads better than how the Teen Titans were done in their awful New 52 comics and the atrocious Teen Titans Go show. Though not as great as it was done in the TV Show that ran in the mid 2000's, which is still the greatest show of the Teen Titans ever made.

But there were still some things that I didn't like. Like other old school fans I would have liked it if they had brought in the Original Teen Titans from the 1960s with Donna, Wally, Dick, Garth and Roy. But this was still a very nice melding of the New Teen Titans from the 1980's as well as the impressive 2000's version.

Not a bad title either, though I have to admit this shows how jealous DC is with the whole Marvel Civil War storyline that they not only have Batman vs Superman but Justice League vs Teen Titans? It wasn't even much of a fight either.

I also didn't like how they made the kids seem less like kids. I loved the Teen Titans 2003 show because they were so wonderful. Robin being so serious but light-hearted at times, Starfire's adorable behavior and choppy English, Beast Boy's DUDE, Raven's deadpan humor and of course Cyborg's jovial southern jock behavior BOOYAH!

These kids seemed a bit sad and moody and most of the characters didn't connect as well. I do like that Starfire is the grownup leader and I am glad by the end Cyborg joins the team. I only wish Nightwing joined them, especially if they ended it with Starfire and Nightwing getting married and in the next movie declaring they are expecting a daughter.

Because I get Damian and Raven, but he ends up with Starfire and Nightwing's daughter (well in another universe anyway). Nice to know Raven can be a great friend to a Robin, whether its Dick or Damian.

Jaime is fun but still looks a bit out of place for me. I always felt he should have his own movie with Ted Kord like how Ant-Man's Scott works with Hank Pym.

Beast Boy isn't as fun as the Beast Boy from the animated series, coming across more like how he was in Young Justice. Other than accidentally appearing naked before Raven I had hoped the two would have a relationship like in the comics. In fact I wondered why Raven and Damian were so chummy.... Until the mid-credits stinger BUT I'll get to that later.

I will say that unlike the way the show presented the Terror of Trigon in Season 4, this movie takes the grand risk in showing the actual origin of Raven and I congratulate them. Dark, but brutally honest and compelling storytelling.

I have to admit it does feel a bit weird having the Justice League involve themselves at first, but then I remember the Teen Titans started out as sidekicks and then united because the League needed them.

Nice plot, good action and excitement, could use some more humor. I felt it was a bit out of left field including Ra's al Ghul in the climax. Still a good story.

Next movie that comes around I want more Titans like either Donna or (if my eyes didn't deceive me in Throne of Atlantis) Cassie, Roy or Mia, Wally or Bart, Garth or Kaldur'ahm. Because we need Wonder Girl, Red Arrow, Kid Flash and Aqualad. And as far as I'm concerned throw in Conner, I like a Teen Trinity with Superboy, Robin and Wonder Girl. Can't wait until then.

SPOILERS
Speaking about the next movie, earlier I mentioned I found it weird that they had Damian and Raven instead of Beast Boy and Raven... until I saw the mid credits. I all but screamed "NO!!!" Beast Boy is going to be paired with Terra, I just know it. And if there was anything I loved more about Beast Boy in the comics and in the show was how much he loved Terra. Knowing what happens... to know that we'll see such horrible heartbreak in the next movie is really going to make me sad. I wonder how, but given how Damian had defeated Slade in Son of Batman, maybe its not just Terra... but maybe Slade's daughter Rose?
