How long can they keep it up?

I enjoyed The Pilot better than I thought I would but I'm having trouble seeing this go on for very long if they go out of their way to keep on referencing various DC characters like Batman and Superman but not showing them at all. I mean, they can only go so far with it. At the end of the episode The Joker is being apprehended by the GCPD but we don't actually see his face its covered up. You can't cut corners like this forever...

Yes, you said that verbatim in the other thread. We get it.

I also liked it better than I thought. I have no idea how they're going to proceed with the show, but I'm going to watch next week's episode with an open mind. This is a new approach so I'm going to try and have fun with it. Haters will hate, of course, but let's see what happens.

They can go on forever. Sitcoms have been around for 60 years now.

reply

Most sitcoms are not based around characters who exist in a world full of iconic superheroes who they keep referencing every minute.

And with D.C. Having thousands of characters; they could go on forever. And most sitcoms suck and last for years.

reply

Except they're emphasizing a lot on characters we're never going to actually see, like Batman and Superman.

I don't see that as a problem at all. If they do it right, it'll only add to the humour of the show.

reply

Well you do you have a point there; its a sitcom, so they can make jokes regarding that which could work.

Which we are familiar with and don't need to. Anyway we will see; if it's even renewed that is.

reply

Depends on if they keep emphasizing their role, like in the first episode.

I think Vanessa can carry the show for 2nd season renewal

Charm City will have its own cast of villains and superheroes. Within a few episodes they will barely mention Batman or Gotham City or the Penguin.
