Can network shows not make good sitcoms anymore?

I've been looking for some new comedies for a while and was really hoping to like Powerless, yet I found the characters 2 dimensional and the jokes not funny.

I was hoping to like The Good Place, but felt the same way. Am I way off or are these shows not good?

Are there any good network sitcoms now?

Does anyone have recommendations for good tv show comedies anywhere else?

Besides Fox, I don't really watch any network comedies and I'm wondering if Im missing anything good.

I like Brooklyn 99, Bob's Burgers, You're the Worst, Always Sunny and Rick and Morty. I used to love Community, Arrested Development and Happy Endings.

Recommendations please

Last two sitcoms I liked where Community and Arrested Development. I haven't even seen the other shows you mention liking because I rarely even try to find anything worth watching on TV and haven't for years. I only discovered Community because Netflix predicted I would like it, and stumbled across Arrested Development one day and was already laughing before I had a chance to turn it off.

TV shows just aren't funny anymore. People promised me Big Bang Theory was funny so I tried it, and it wasn't. I hear promos for Two Broke Girls on the radio for some reason, and I have never heard one funny thing in any clip. How can a show be so unfunny you can't even find one laugh for a promo? I think in Hollywood you get a job writing television if you are friends with one of the producers. Being able to write doesn't seem to be important to working in television.

Aside from Sitcoms, I gave most of the superhero shows a try, but Flash was the only one I liked. But I never watch it anymore because I'm so out of the habit of watching anything other than MeTV or my own DVD collection of old shows.

TV just sucks all around today.

Did you watch The Grinder? It was only on for one season, but was clever as hell.

reply

Agreed. The Grinder was a masterpiece.

I see you like the edgier type of sitcoms. Give this one a try. It's called Apartment 23 (Don't Trust the B*tch in Apartment 23). It ran for 2 seasons and got cancelled. While I'm at it, I might as well throw out Silicon Valley too.

I saw the original pilot at San Diego Comic Con it was so much better. I was extremely disappointed in this pilot. I've been going to SDCC for 6 years and this was the 1st time seeing a pilot that they scrapped it and did something else.

Try American Housewife and Fresh off the Boat. Those are my two favorite comedies right now. Also, The Mick is pretty good.

Superstore (esp s1) is the best written comedy since AD.

I'm watching the pilot now and what strikes me is some of the humor is way too on the nose and look at me. The series premise is good, it's got a good set up, but it needs better writers. Immediately I thought some of the writers from "Scrubs" could likely get this series to hit a stride.

On a personal sujective view, I'd re-cast two or three people or just replace them with new characters that have better actors/actresses.
