Why Emma Stone?

She's a fine actress.

She is pretty. But, more importantly. she is a great actor. She has been awarded two Oscars, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. And has been nominated for many other awards. She is nominated for "The Favorite." Also, actors play various roles that are different from their country of origin. Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln and Meryl Streep as Thachter. There are many other examples.
So, with respect, I disagree.

I have never found her particularly pretty or an exceptional actress. However, she was the most attractive I have ever seen her in this film, and i was very impressed by her acting. She was at her best in this excellent film.

Because she’s a talented actress and was especially effective in this movie. It was fascinating to watch the various facets of her character unfold over the course of the movie.

And looks have little to do with it. The actress who played the queen was almost homely, and not only did that add to her character, she actually enhanced her homeliness in several crucial scenes.

Anybody can play pretty, but it takes real self assurance to let your ugliness hang out on the screen.

She was probably cast because having a big name on board got the film funded.

That said, she was EXCELLENT, and pulled her weight against two fabulously trained and experienced old-pro Brits. This is the film that convinced me that Stone is the real deal. She may be young and pretty American, but she's a real actor and not just a starlet.

I disagree with you, as do most people -- esp. the ones who selected her as the Best Actress in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences!

I actually think this is Emma Stone's best performance even more so then her Oscar one in La La Land. She need's to do more bitchy roles cause her two best ones were this and Birdman. She pulled off a great English accent, I was worried when she was first cast in this but she proved me wrong. Emma isn't troubling the top 10 beauties in the world, but she's got that girl next door look that maker her cute imo.

Wrong, wrong and wrong.

And that's not just me saying that.
