Legends/folklore tied to the movie

Okay...I'm from Taiwan so I've heard about this.

I wouldn't say this is a bad film, but it is messy because it's mashing 4 different types of folklore into the one movie. I understand what they're doing...but I think it makes things too confusing and just too convenient.

==================Spoiler Alert===========================

1) story about the mosien (little girl in red) - these creatures usually go after old people as they are weak-willed and easy to manipulate. Old people who have been taken usually come back within a week or so. They describe their ordeal as similar as going on a walk. Usually they're led away by a child who talks to them and stays close to them. They are given food to eat but later analysis usually find bugs and worms inside the victim's stomach. However, the victims describe the food given to them as tasting and looking like normal food. eg. drumsticks and bread

2) Story about dead loggers - this was tentatively mentioned. During the Japanese occupation, they cut A LOT of trees and shipped them back to Japan. A few of the most famous temples in Japan used trees logged from Taiwan. At first everything was all good coz the Japanese thought they had found gold, but then accidents started to happen. I mean like mass disappearances. Whole groups of loggers would just disappear en masse and eventually, they had to stop the logging. What happened was, some of the trees were sacred trees and the loggers would be warned by the aboriginese not to touch them. But the Japanese didn't care about stuff like that so they would just cut the trees. So the trees would punish the people by taking them.

3) Deadly Forest - there's actually quite a few in Taiwan, some more famous than the others. But people would disappear into these forests and never be seen. If they are ever found, they would be dead. Someone people believe that these forests are similar to the Bermuda Triangle. The magnetic field would be so strong that it would screw up the compass and cause people to be lost.

4) Baby of your enemy - this was really weird and I wondered why they even put this in. If anyone's seen Gin Gwai 2 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0405061/reference, it's basically the same premise except there's no reason to put this bit in and really ruins the film.

To a westerner like me it felt coherent enough.
