Made me spellbound :)

After procrastinating for over a day, I finally watched the much anticipated 'Thailavar' movie, Kabali. What an amazing blend of emotions and action ! To be honest, I have never watched a Rajni movie completely. Not to be mistaken, it's because I am not quite fond of action movies. So, this is the first Rajni movie I watched with a decent level of expectations ; owing to the large number of reviews and promotions.

The movie has been set in the backdrop of gang-war in Malaysia. It opens with the release of the gangster Kabali after twenty five years of imprisonment. Although the introduction scene was not as filmy as people had expected it to be, it still gave me a high. His charisma is breathtaking. The way he moves, the way he delivers the dialogs, the way he emotes, everything is sheer magic. Time and again, he proves that age doesn't stop anyone from reinventing oneself. And kabali has marked a new beginning for Rajni - bringing forth new dimensions to his persona. Director Ranjith would not have had any dilemma while casting for the role of 'Kumudhavalli', Kabali's beloved counterpart. She's subtle and strong at the same time. She's Kabali's strength as well as weakness. Even at the edge of a dagger, she tells kabali to not surrender. Radhika apte, the doe-eyed etheral beauty, has been an eye candy throughout the movie. By embodying Kumudhavalli with such poise and grace, she has left no room for disappointment. She is nothing short of uniqueness and talent personified. The way she breaks down at the sight of Kabali after more than two decades makes us realize that she's an actress of unmatched calibre. Dhansika, a gifted upcoming actress, has done complete justice to the character 'Yogi', Kabali's daughter. She makes us spellbound with her stellar performance. She represents the kind of women Indian cinema has always been reluctant to portray; the kind of women who can fight men and prove equal. The scenes where kabali defends his daughter and his daughter defends him, speaks volumes about the strong bond between the father and the daughter. Another interesting character that caught my attention was that of 'Aamir' played by John Vijay. He is by Kabali's side right from the beginning till the near end. Their relationship stands the tests of times. John's portrayal of a loyal comrade and a follower has been well executed. No wonder he's known as a 'scene stealer' !

I can go on and on about each and every character in the movie, but I do not want to spoil the fun. I would suggest this movie to everyone who is looking for pure entertainment. It is a stunning cinematic experience which is sure to please any kind of crowd.

Magizhichi ;)

P.S : It did make me a fan of Rajnikanth and I regret not watching his previous movies.
