A Few Questions

When Kyle arrives home, he is in his Army uniform with only 3 stripes on his sleeve, making him a sergeant. As he is 30-35 years old (Gretchen is 32, and, given Ethan's age, that would be about right for him), he should have a much higher rank--even master sergeant. I had actually expected him to be an officer, but he should be a higher ranking NCO.

As the wife and child of an active duty soldier, Gretchen and Ethan would have been eligible for base housing, which would have come out of his housing allowance. They would also be entitled to commissary, BX, hospital, NCO club, etc., privileges. I would think they would have been encouraged to stay on base (post? my husband was in the Air Force, so I tend to think base) where he would have access to good medical treatment and therapy when he returned home. Also military wives are a wonderful group, very supportive. But if she had, there would have been no story!
