John Hinckleys parents?

You would think after he shot the president ,that they would disown him even further then before.
In this movie they go by his side with great passion stating that they are going to get him the best lawyers.

Even under the worst of circumstances, parents will try and help their own children. Interestingly enough, his parents were friends with George and Barbara Bush. From what I understand, this severed that relationship.

His parents should have realized before their son hurt anyone that he needed more psychiatric help, that he was too ill to work (should have been on disability), and stop pressuring him to get a job (as if getting a job is the answer to everything).

Maybe he needed to be institutionalized or placed in a group home or been in support groups so he could socialize with others with similar problems, maybe he would have made friends and stopped obsessing over Jodie Foster which led to his violent actions.

What he needed long before he resorted to violence was his parents to show him that they loved him and were trying to understand his issues. I'm a firm believer that love can save our world, prevent tragedies and if only everyone could see that. It's hatred and anger that destroy our world and make it a horrible place.

On a side note, I also think Reagan should have seen that the Russians were not trying to start a nuclear war with the United States. If anything it was Reagan who was a war monger and wanted to hold onto nuclear weapons where as the Russians wanted unilateral disarmament.

What a mess Reaganomics caused too. The US went into a huge recession in the 1980's and as a result my father lost his job that he worked at for so many years. At the age of 50 he had to look for work. If only our government would think about people first and money second or better yet, don't even focus on money. I doubt our current president can do that.
