Did anyone like the ending?

The ending was a bit weird to me. I mean I get it that Shannen left the show but the way that they had Jennie walk in and they remove Shannen's name on the door with that smile on her face seemed a little weird to end it that way. I guess I would've like to see it ending with Shannen watching the show after she left and turning off the TV and saying that this is show is so over without her would've made more sense to me. Did they really do that number system for their dressing rooms?

I took it as a slight jab that Jennie wasn't all that innocent as she portrayed herself to others. It was like a passing of the torch, a new b*tch in town. A lot of guest stars and I think even Tiffani mentioned having problems with Garth.

I find that surprising. Tiffani & Jennie had a very close friendship. If I remember right, Tiffani was even one of Jennie's bridesmaids.

"Thiessen opens up about her falling out with ex-90210 co-star Jennie Garth"
'It's funny, our relationship started really rough and ended the way it started,' she recalled, telling Stern that the 90210 girls 'were not very nice to me,' when she joined the cast back in 1994. However, Garth 'actually apologised' for her behaviour towards Thiessen and the girls became so close that Thiessen was there when Garth gave birth to her first child.

I stand corrected. Thanks.

I think you're right - it implied that Jennie was the new diva on the set and all ready to take her spot.
It might have even been a jab at their two characters' upcoming adversarial relationship on the show

Brenda and Kelly seemed to have become friends first and over time in the series became more competitive and eventually rivals over Dylan. but Valerie was an untrustworthy bad-girl from the get-go

Yeah no I don't think the movie ending with Shannen watching the show would've "made more sense". They made it clear from the beginning that Shannen was "number 1" and when she was gone Jennie became "number 1". That makes a lot more sense considering Jennie was a much larger part of that show since she was there the entire series and was arguably the female character utilized the most.

reply

It was kind of dumb making Jennie the number 1 considering Luke and Jason were bigger stars than her.I doubt that happened in real life.

reply

I noticed they had said when they were giving the rooms out in the first place that the room number would be the same as the parking spot. But looked like Jennie got Shannon's room and Jason's mustang was in the #1 parking spot

I thought it was a pretty bad ending. It seems like they just cut it off in the middle of a scene.

reply

You may have seen a broadcast that didn't show the ending. Some people said they had to tune into another airing of the movie to see the ending.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

I thought the same thing! Was all set to enjoy the next portion of the series and then suddenly the "where are they now" credits started running. Of course they would have needed another hour at least to fulfill all the rest of the behind the scene stuff to really give us more satisfaction which wouldn't be practical.

Same here, there was 10 min left and they were only in mid-season 3 so just as i said that they literally cut it off right after the fight scene in the club. I was not impressed at all. Apparently there was more than that, can anyone tell me or does anyone know where i can possibly find it so i can see it's entirety properly?

Thanks in advance

The thing that comes to mind that could have been done a little differently at the end was with Shannen's "post series history." After mentioning that she went on to star in Charmed... As a witch... It would have been a funny jab/nod if it also included a reference to her leaving that show to amidst behind-the-scenes (off camera) conflicts with the crew, since that's a big reason for her leaving the show.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a bit of a fan of hers as far back as I can remember, but I don't look at her with filtered vision. She's got a certain personality that just happens to clash with a lot of people, it's a part of life.

I thought it was fine because that's more or less what happened. The original core cast had problems with Shannen, but thereafter, a lot of female cast members had issues with Jennie. Someone already mentioned that she and Tiffani did not get along (but became close friends, only to have another falling out). Vanessa Marcil said that none of the girls on the show were nice to her and she actually ended up leaving the show prior to fulfilling her contract because she was that uncomfortable. Christine Elise McCarthy, who plays Emily Valentine, has said multiple times that she was warned that the girls might not be nice to her, and she says they weren't. Jessica Alba also said Jennie Garth was rude to her for the episode she was on.

Jennie's difficult behavior is kind of the show's best kept secret. It's not really talked about, because she got along with the people who mattered. She touches upon it a little in her memoir, saying that she knows she wasn't kind to the new girls who came in after Shannen.

reply

I'm guessing the difference between Shannon's behavior and Jennie's after she left is Jennie wasn't making headlines with hers, somehow she must have towed the line to the point where it wasn't newsworthy. (she may have been difficult at times, like many actors can be but she probably wasn't holding up production by being late, never showing up,acting disorderly in public, etc.).

reply

That's exactly it. By many accounts, Shannen regularly antagonized people on set. Breaking into Jason's trailer to find out his real age, pulling up Jennie's skirt to expose her bum to the crew, and crashing Ian's car come to mind as the most memorable. Not to mention her frequent tardiness, which is a waste of everyone's time and a lot of money. Shannen also misbehaved offset, with her partying, nightclub brawls, money problems, and romantic dramas all making headlines. Jennie never did any of that. The only charges against her were that she was apparently rude to a lot of female actors, in passive ways like not letting them speak to her. It's still crappy, but she wasn't actively pissing people off like Shannen, and she behaved off set too.

Wow!

I wonder how Tori Spelling treated new female cast members. Everyone always points out Shannen and Jennie.

Most of these unaouthorized movies have abrupt endings, but even with that in mind, this one had a terrible ending. It felt like they ran out of reel.

reply

No, the Saved By the Bell and Full House had proper endings. This one had more story to tell.
