Lola?

Was it said who she was spying for?

Mystery Scotsman I presume but that story thread went nowhere!

It's that man again!!

I think she was spying for the mystery Scotsman, and Nick saw her snooping and realised she was spying, so he fed his son information - what he said was 'the truth' and told him to tell nobody, but if he really felt he had to, he could tell Lola - knowing that he would, and that Lola would tell the mystery Scotsman. So he was setting up a meeting in the woods, where he knew the mystery Scotsman would show up to kill him, and he had also arranged to meet the reporter there who would film everything. Then he rang up the police to report a murder (his) before it even happened. I think he thought he was redeeming himself for all he had done, by sacrificing himself to catch the Scotsman. It turned out differently though, and even though you saw the Scotsman being arrested, he was out later and free - untouchable apparently. I think as I write it down I am starting to work out some of what it was all about - I hope ;)

ah, thanks for that

Why was Lola put there? Was John now spying on Nick as well? Nick spying on Maya? The mind boggles.

First introduction of Lola came right after the scene where the Scotsman told the minister he had taken out an insurance policy on the whole family. So Lola was clearly the honey trap set up to get her into the family's life (and house) to gather dirt that they could presumably use to blackmail Nick if they needed to.
