Cosimo should be much much older than Lorenzo De Medici, by 80, 90 years old. And Cosimo isn't his brother. I think he's his grand father. Or is this Lorenzo a different man? I need a history lesson. Lets start by asking. What year is this taking place?

Cosimo did have a brother Lorenzo the Elder, who died in his 40's. Cosimo's son Piero had a son named Lorenzo who became Lorenzo the Magnificent (whom seasons 2 and hopefully 3 will focus on).

Piero was the father of Lorenzo the great, so Cosimo was the granfather of Lorenzo the great.
It's confusing because in the Medici family,there were several Cosmisos and Lorenzos. The Cosmiso in the show (Madden) has a brother Lorenzo. The Lorenzo you may be thinking of (Lorenzo the Magnificent) was indeed much younger because he was the grandson of Madden's character Cosimo by his son.
Hot guys + dark subject matter + plenty of violence = watchable television.
I don‘t understand why they don‘t try to stick close to history. Nothing in this series is historical. All invented nonsense which isn‘t even more interesting that the historical events.
