loved Sicario, but...

This isn't a good idea. The ending to the first was amazing, showing that the whole war is a cycle. A 2nd one won't do well, it won't be a good movie. Hopefully I'm wrong.

If it has the same actors then I think it will do great

I see Sicario as a work that stands on it's own. The main character's arcs were settled and the overall political and criminal themes/ideologies were expressed to close out the film. Attempts for justifying any sequel(s) are just in the vain of milking the original's success - the writer just looks hungry for another paycheck. I can easily see Villeneuve and Deakins wanting nothing to do with it. I have no interest in a sequel and if they make one I probably am less likely to buy the original on Blu-ray.

reply

That's a little silly, a sequel shouldn't hurt your liking of the original. Just pretend it doesn't exist, and enjoy the original!

"Lawyer by day, vigilante by night...how does that work?"

reply

That's what I do with Star Wars

reply

No, the original is still worth buying on blu ray, regardless of the sequel.

reply

I hope they don't do this.

I heard it's a pre quel further articulating the story and transformation of Benicio Del toro's character.

It could be good...if the Avengers show up.

I would normally agree but I got my hands on the script and its going to be better than Sicario. It has a much wider scope and a particular dynamic between Alejandro and a couple kid characters that gives it more heart (in a good way). It could technically stand alone but there are some allusions to Sicario via Alejandros past that connect the two films.

You wouldn't happen to want to give this script to someone would you?

After 2 or 3 viewing attempts i couldn't finish Sicario. Just couldn't get into it. I might try it again sometime. Tryna figure out what is so great about it.
