What

I totally agree. I'm so tired of people making sequels when they are completely unnecessary.

Leave it alone and come up with a new idea.

reply

It's not a straight sequel. The next two will be anthology films set in the same area. So it's not as bad as a sequel.

reply

Its awkward. It was originally about the drug trafficing and the fear of violence spilling over the border. We are seeing this in border towns just not at the magnitude thatshappening in mexico so the first film was some what realistic. But now were dealing with cross border terrorists. I think they should have stuck with the drug trafficing angle since thats a demonstrated real threat that we've seen in the south including my state and home town.

I agree in most cases but there are a few special movies where a sequel actually works. Take the series Fargo for example. The Second Season is kind of a prequel to the First Season and it tells its own story while maintaining the atmosphere that makes Fargo stand out so much.
For Sicario I can imagine a sequel or prequel where we get to see the story of another character, maybe a more personal story around Alejandro?

reply

Having read the script I can say this is one of the exceptions. This will surpass the first as well, its that good

reply

Sicario was directed by one of the best working today with arguably one of the all-time best cinematographers while this one is being directed by basically an unproven director who has only really worked on some seemingly unknown tv shows and a couple films so it seems questionable to assume it will be better than the first.

reply

Unknown to you, which isn't saying much. If it turns out to be crap it probably won't be because of the director.

reply

It will most definitely not be because of the director. He's a very Skilled Italian one who's only unknown to people who dont watch foreign film/tv
But surely allot of people have heard of Gamorah? He's directed 10 episodes and all of Romanzo Criminale.. Possibly one of the best pieces of mob cinema ever made.
And since Sicario falls right into his top their genre skil set, its likely this film will be better than the first sicario which i personally thought had amazing cinematography and acting.. but to me definitely felt lacking in the directing and writing to the degree.. and i really wanted this film to be a 10/10 for me but it was only a 7.. still really looking forward to the sequel.
First english film for the director.

I would loved to read the script for soldado, can u email me Please..

reply

Since I completely loved Sicario, I am jacked to hear that the writer is back and a couple of the stars. Yes, sequels can suck, but I have hopes on this one. It's a shame that Dennis isn't back, but you can't have it all I suppose.

reply

It won't be a sequel, it'll be a stand alone film

reply

As long as there aren't any whiny FBI agents who can't figure out what is going(from start to finish). Then I'm in.

reply

I'm sure you would've done a much better job. TYFYS.

reply

Are you kidding me? These were supposedly FBI agents for gods sake. Yet they couldn't figure anything out for themselves... My suspension of disbelief only goes so far and this movie tried way too hard to stretch it as far as possible.

reply

You must have never worked in government. They (especially CIA, FBI, and other 3-letter agencies) LOVE their secrecy and cloak-and-dagger stuff. I had a Top Secret clearance for 11 years and all of that time, I was in the dark for everything I didn't need to know, and even a few things I DID need to know.

reply

oh whiny FBI agents claiming drug wars should be faught in court insteadof with guns.

reply

Why not.

reply

I'm sure I'll see the film but I'm right there with you. Sicario is almost perfect on its own. You don't need to tell anymore.

They will bend the knee or I will destroy them.

reply

Because it's movies like this that deserve a sequel. Especially if it's unencumbered by the whiny do-gooder audiences supposedly sympathize with.
