Same here. The disappointment some feel over the absence of the original film’s director is understandable, but this sequel looks pretty promising, as far as I’m concerned.
One of the main worries many have, is that this will be more action-packed (as most sequels to crime thrillers are) and will lack character development. Supposing the action hits harder, then I don’t see that as a con at all. This could be a fast-paced film and, like the first, the film can nevertheless put focus on the characters and atmosphere. It’s possible.
And anyway, Del Toro and Brolin’s characters DESERVE their own film. So great or underwhelming sequel, I’m all for it.
