Think It'll be good?

I think it probably will be.

Sicario was amazing, and probably unbeatable. But I have high hopes for this one! Especially since Brolin and Del Toro will be returning.

good

I hope so. The trailer is badass. I'm glad that Benicio Del Toro is the main character because he was the best in the first one. Good to have Brolin back too. Looks like this one might have more action in it and I'm not against that at all.

I thought the trailer was intense, but I worry that the complex morality of Sicario is being thrown out in favor of a tired corrupt CIA storyline.

I thought that what made Sicario so good was the mysterious nature of Del Toro's character, the apparent duplicity of Brolin yet his tolerance of Blunt's naive cop, and the mysterious nature of their mission against a pretty scary enemy.

I kind of walked away from the movie both supportive of Blunt's objections to covering for a domestic CIA mission that involved killing civilians yet feeling like the cartel was so dangerous and brutal that it was kind of necessary to step it up beyond law enforcement & rule-of-law.

I'll watch this movie anyway, but I kind of expect that the good v. evil will be too simple minded, and Brolin will just be corrupt CIA and Del Toro some kind of robin hood.

To be Emily Blunt (lol), this looks better than the first one. I know saying that can be ridiculous based on a trailer, but to my eyes it looks to be a worthy sequel.

And I’m pleased that Del Toro will be the main focus on this one. He looks nothing short of captivating in the role. Moreover, Brolin reprising his role and teaming up with Del Toro’s character again is also something I look forward to. Nice to see Matthew Modine be a part of the film, too.

In any event, as far I can tell this one appears to have everything that made Villeneuve’s film: masterful direction, top-notch cinematography, great tension and a stirring musical score. Yeah, it has the chance of being an unremarkable sequel, but I’m gonna give it a chance. Lastly, if it’s ultimately not a morality tale like the first film, I won’t see that as an issue as long as this can be worthwhile in its own right.

To be Emily blunt ha.

"To be Emily Blunt (lol), this looks better than the first one."

No idea what makes you think that.
I predict it will be a rather mediocre action flick that offers high quality production value but still is nothing special in the end. Explosions don't make a movie.

And why you think to already know that the cinematography, direction and tension will be just as good (to paraphrase you), is a mystery to me. The trailer gave us nothing but "badass action".

Hint: Transformer movie trailers did give us explosions as well.
Hint²: The (Disney) Star Wars trailers looked great too - and look at what we got in the end.

Tl;dr: Too many people still fall for trailers...

As good as the trailer looks, that's kind of my takeaway from it too, they're ramping it up in much the same way First Blood ramped into Rambo. The first film was thought provoking, the second was fun, with much boom boom, but not nearly as sophisticated as the first.

This is why I stated whether that turns out to be the case or not. Furthermore, the direction and cinematography APPEARS to look as great as the first film. I’m not by any means saying it ultimately will be, but if I didnt know someone else directed this sequel, then I could easily believe Denis Villeneuve returned for Sicario 2 based on this trailer. Granted the trailer puts emphasis on the action, but that is unsurprising. Still, as far as I’m concerned the film LOOKS technically impressive and tense.

Trailers are often times misleading since they’re made to sell a movie, of course. But with that in mind, for all you know all the BOOM! BOOM! seen in the trailer could be nothing but marketing... meaning the film itself MIGHT be closer to the original. Either way, I must say that I won’t find more action and less character study problematic as long as the film remains thought-provoking and well-executed. Explosions? Um, that was far and away from what grabbed my attention in the trailer. Transformers? You know, if I like any Michael Bay movie (I’m having difficulty thinking of one), it certainly isn’t any one of those. Anyway Mr. Assumptions, this sequel’s trailer appealed to me for pretty much the same reason the first film’s trailer did.

In regards to the Disney Star Wars movies, sorry bud... I’m not one of those cranky purists who throws tantrums over their existence. In fact, I couldn’t be more satisfied with those three critically acclaimed films. So if being fond of them (along with finding the “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” trialer good) means to you that my taste is unsophisticated compared to yours, then I got nothing more to say to you.
