Similar to Skeleton Key. :)

If you've never seen it, and you liked GET OUT, then you should watch that flick too.

so hoodoo based ??

reply

Yeah it reminded me of that too. This was better though.

reply

Oh, yhaa, I agree

And the Stepford Wives and about a dozen other movies. It was well done but amazingly unoriginal for all the praise heaped upon it by idiot white critics.

Casual movie goers probably have not seen the amount of movies necessary to have a list of a dozen movies that "Get Out" should remind them of. I certainly can't, but Skeleton Key stood out. Stepford Wives involves technology and robots. Get Out involves body possession by hypnosis, then transplant. Two completely different movies, different plot, ambiance, mood and setting.

The Skeleton Key involved voodoo or hoodoo if you prefer and magic. Get Out involved hypnosis and new age psycho babble so if you want to split hairs and be pedantic do so all around.

All 3 movies had the exact same uneasy what the hell is going on "ambiance" In fact Stepford Wives had more in common with Get Out as far as characters suddenly having totally new personalities. Watch more movies. Also accept the FACT your "answer" is far from being the only right one.

Definitely "Skeleton Key", one of my favorite thrillers. I disagree that this was better. That one was deeper and more haunting and eerie and creepy and the ambience of the New Orleans bayou really set the scene.

This was second in that not only did it not do all that as well, but it came long after so it was not so original.

reply

Yeah, it's sort of the reverse of Skeleton Key. I'm glad someone remembers that movie.

I con't believe no one else sees the painfully obvious similarity to The Stepford Wives as well.

Get Out is pretty much a Stepford Wives (the 70s one) remake. They are extremely similar but Stepford Wives is a lot creepier.

Peele even said that he took inspiration from Stepford Wives. Get Out was a good movie but it stood on the shoulders of better movies
