can this be good please

Can u make sure this isnt anything like the aaliyah movie plz

That Aaliyah movie was terrible. I have to say Aaliyah dying so prematurely was also a factor in the movie lacking substance. She died so young that all though she did acquire some accomplishments, she still was up and coming. I was never a huge fan of hers, but the music that was showcased in the Aaliyah film was mediocre at best.

Lifetime seems to be on a biopic kick these days. Liz & Dick is a guilty pleasure of mine, and that movie was a big mistake. You have no clue how much I hate to admit it. What I saw of the Marilyn Monroe miniseries didn't get all of the events right, but was still decent entertainment. All of the others should never have been made. You can't just blame one person. Whitney not only had poor direction, but poor production value in general. Angela Bassett never could have saved it. I think there were several factors that were far beyond her control. Wendy Williams probably backed the Aaliyah movie financially, but I doubt she had any involvement in the day-to-day production. Attaching her name to this mediocre project was also good publicity. Lifetime isn't known for Emmy-worthy productions. What exactly were people expecting?

No matter how close to real life a biopic is someone will find fault with it. Not every detail will be included. Otherwise, the plot would be all over the place. Lots of filmmakers and writers blend fact and fiction, because it sells and makes for a good story. I normally prefer documentaries, which is also a great medium for storytelling.

Yeah they seem to be popping all these biopics lately, and IMO anyway, it seems to cheapen the biopic genre a bit especially since most of them are rushed and all over the place.

I really hate that lifetime is doing this movie because they have been messing up biopics left and right these days. What happened to the old Lifetime that had good movies? Nowadays the movies seem rushed and half done. When thinking of the last couple of biopics and books that they have recently tried to turn into films, the word "lazy" comes to mind. I would much rather this movie and the Whitney and Aaliyah movies to have been done and aired on VH1. After watching the TLC movie, I think they would have done a much better job. One good thing I can say that gives me a bit of hope is that I read the credits and I see that Toni is at least involved. Unlike the Whitney and Aaliyah movies, where even though they are both deceased and hopefully resting in peace, their families and the people who where actually there, weren't even involved in the production so how do they even start to work up the nerve to tell their stories? Seems like they honestly wouldn't really know anymore about these people's private lives than we as the viewers already know.

Toni Braxton had a lot to do with this movie. For instance she was a producer in the movie and she assisted with casting as well even Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds was a producer in the movie. I am crossing my fingers and hoping this movie will be better than the Aaliyah and Whitney movies.

it should be better

I wish people would quit comparing them to the Aaliyah and Whitney movies just because it's airing on lifetime.

The Whitney and Aaliyah films were "unauthorized" like Lifetime's "Full House" and "Saved by the bell" movies. They were supposed to suck.

They just weren't labeled "Unauthorized"

This is authorized by Toni and babyface

"Toni Braxton: Unbreak my Heart" was a wonderful film! I gave it 7 out of 10 here on IMDb. It was much better than the Aaliyah and Whitney movies!! It had an authentic vibe to it and was very heartfelt. Toni Braxton making a cameo at the end was touching. It was also a plus that the movie featured a lot of Toni Braxton's real music. I definitely recommend this movie!

It's Lifetime these movies are never good. First off the actress looks nothing like Toni Braxton & second you can tell she is lip syncing the songs.

reply

YMMV, but I'd give it a solid 8/10. OK, so the lip-syncing wasn't perfect. We all know the actress wasn't really doing the singing. Folks are annoyed that the actress wasn't as short as Toni...y'all are expecting too much here.
